CAMP COURAGE CHECK LIST

Colorado’s mountain weather can be very changeable.  You need to plan for ALL kinds of weather.  Listed below is a list of things you will need!  As you locate and pack these items, check them off this list!!

 

MAKE SURE YOUR NAME IS ON ALL OF YOUR THINGS!!!!

  1. WEAR THESE THINGS ON THE DAY OF THE TRIP:

_____  Warm jacket or coat

_____  Comfortable hiking boots and tennis shoes

_____  Long pants and long sleeved shirt (long underwear if it is very cold)

  1. TAKE THESE THINGS SEPARATELY FOR THE FIRST DAY:

_____  Snack (A granola bar, raisins, nuts, etc.  Try to take natural things rather than candy.)

_____  Sack lunch (Don’t pack too much!  Students seldom eat more than they usually do.)  Do NOT pack carbonated beverages!  Please pack water only for drinking.

_____  Day Pack (Use your own or borrow from Courage camp)

_____  Sun Hat

_____  A “No Leak” plastic bottle with a screw type lid (Do not freeze it!)

**Make sure canteen is filled with water.  NO POP!  NO CANS!!!

_____  Raingear (A large plastic garbage/leaf and lawn bag works best)

_____  Extra dry socks

_____  Extra sweater or sweat shirt

_____  Lip Balm, Sunglasses, and Sunscreen (If the sun is very bright, as it often is, these would be good to bring with you.)

  1. OPTIONAL ARTICLES:         

_____  Note Pad

_____  Binoculars

_____  Camera and Film (Be sure you know how to operate any camera you bring.  Also make sure your name is on it.  The kind that is a cardboard box, used once, and turned in for processing, is easy for students to use.

_____  Ipod (Music)

_____ Board Games to Share

  1. PACK IN DUFFEL BAG:  (GEAR THAT WILL BE UNLOADED AT LODGE)

_____  BED ROLL/SLEEPING BAG (A blanket with sheets works very well.  A heavy duty sleeping bag is     

too warm to be used in the lodge.)

_____   Pillow

CLOTHING

_____  Change of shirt and pants

_____  Socks, at least 3 pair, heavy for cold weather, wool is best

_____  Pajamas (Pajamas make good long underwear)

_____  Extra pair of sneakers

_____  Underwear, 1 change (Long underwear if possible for cold weather)

_____  Hat (Warm to cover head and ears, a stocking cap works best)

_____  Gloves or mittens

_____  Swimsuit and towel

_____  White plain t-shirt for decorating

TOILET ARTICLES:

_____  Toothbrush and toothpaste

_____  Comb/Brush

_____  Washcloth (A zip lock sandwich bag holds a camp wash cloth well.)

_____  Shampoo

 

Because you will not need these items, do NOT bring:  Matches, Flashlight, Candy, Pop or Gum, Comic Books, Knives, Money.
